MLB.com calls the outfielder haul at the 2021 trade deadline Atlanta's greatest trade move of the century

The quarter of Joc Pederson, Adam Duvall, Jorge Soler, and Eddie Rosario powered the Braves to a World Series in 2021, so they're probably right on this one

The MLB Trade Deadline is coming up at the beginning of August, and while everyone else is frantically combing through divisional standings and Wild Card races to see who might be out of it and sell, MLB.com decided to look back at some of the best moves for each franchise in the 2000s.

Of course, for Atlanta they went right to 2021, where the Braves completely remade their outfield by acquiring FOUR outfielders, Joc Pederson, Adam Duvall, Jorge Soler, and Eddie Rosario.

I'm thinking the fact that Atlanta went on to win the World Series, and three of those guys winning MVP awards for playoff rounds (Joc in the NLDS, Rosario in the NLCS, and Soler in the World Series) didn't hurt.

Here's what they said about Atlanta's trade deadline moves:

It’s hard to pick which of these four acquisitions proved to be the most valuable. The Braves needed to find an outfielder to account for the absence of Ronald Acuña Jr., who tore his ACL two days before the All-Star break. Pederson helped create confidence within the clubhouse and Duvall hit some big home runs down the stretch. Rosario was the NLCS MVP and Soler was the World Series MVP. It’s pretty hard to top that collection of deadline acquisitions.

The icing on the cake is what Atlanta gave up to acquire those four players, because it's surprisingly little compared to the return of a World Series Championship.

Joc Pederson: 1B Bryce Ball to the Chicago Cubs
(Still in AA, with a slashline of .255/.353/.393 and 12 homeruns in 147 games)

Adam Duvall: C Alex Jackson to the Miami Marlins
(.157/.260/.278 in 42 MLB games with Miami, since traded to Milwaukee for SS Hayden Cantrelle)

Jorge Soler: RHP Kasey Kalich to Kansas City Royals
(Made it to AAA in 2022 with Kansas City and now pitching in independent ball, with Cleburne Railroaders of the American Association)

Eddie Rosario: DH Pablo Sandoval and Cash to Cleveland Guardians
(Immediately DFA'd after being acquired by Cleveland, and last played in the 2022 Puerto Rican Winter League)

Hard to argue that, relative to the value that Atlanta got for the price they paid, that this isn't the best trade deadline haul in baseball history.
