Spencer Strider gives hot take about fans in interview

The Braves starting pitcher (jokingly) holds a belief about the presence of fans that is surely in the minority.

The date is July 24, 2020, and it is Opening Day for the Atlanta Braves.

An occasion that was supposed to be in March of that year, but was delayed for obvious reasons.

It was a time of stadiums that resembled ghost towns with the occasional cardboard cutout or giant teddy bear.

Ouch, that had to leave a mark.

It was a time that was both interesting and unprecedented for not only Major League Baseball but the world as a whole. Life as everyone knew it had almost shifted completely.

When the MLB season finally got going four months after it was originally supposed to, many people felt a sense of normalcy.

Braves pitcher Spencer Strider joked about the period of time in a pregame interview.

Obviously, Strider was joking. After all, he did not make his MLB debut until 2021 after ballparks were back to full capacity and did not stick around on the roster until 2022.

It does generate some thought as to how big of an adjustment that had to be. The Braves have consistently been among the best in the MLB in attendance. Going from a full ballpark to an empty one had to take some getting used to.

If there is one thing baseball players and fans can agree on, it's that hopefully games must never be played in front of an assortment of cutouts and teddy bears ever again.
