Summer Sizzle: Ozzie Albies had a tremendous June

The Braves finished June 21-4 and Ronald Acuña won Player of the Month, but not many people realize that Ozzie quietly had a stellar showing

When people talk about how outstanding the Atlanta Braves were in June, they will mention how their record was 21-4, they went 13-1 at home, and how Ronald Acuña Jr. hit .356 BA, 1.111 OPS, 9 HR, 22 RBI, 14 SB for that month.

Lost in translation is the fact that one of the core pieces of this team had his best month so far. Ozzie Albies quietly hit .278 with a .348 OBP, .905 OPS, 7 HR, 20 RBI, and 5 SB. It was his best month as a Brave since June of 2021. In 2021, Ozzie was an All-Star, finished 13th in MVP voting, and was a Silver Slugger award winner.

It's safe to say that a lot of guys in the lineup had a great month, but the emergence of Ozzie Albies is a story to keep an eye on. He may not be the guy with all of the pomp and circumstance on the team, but this team is a lot better when Ozzie is playing well. When Ozzie is playing well, it boosts the morale of everyone around him, especially Acuña.

Ozzie did not play to his full capability last year after he was sidelined by a broken left foot and then broke his pinky only a day after returning to the Braves lineup last September. If Ozzie can stay healthy this season, he may be on track for one of his best-ever seasons as a Brave and he may lead the Braves to another World Series.

For the 2023 season, Ozzie is batting .260/.313/.505 w/ 20 HRs, 44 R, 60 RBI, and 6 SBs.
