Today's Series Finale Against New York Mets to be Delayed

The Atlanta Braves will be starting this one later than scheduled, again due to weather

The series finale between the Atlanta Braves and New York Mets will not be starting at the listed 12:20 PM ET first pitch time.

There's nothing official from either the team or MLB, but members of the Braves beat who are on-site at Truist Park report that there's multiple reasons why this game won't start on time.

Per Justin Toscano of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the tarp is still on the field at Truist Park. While "getaway" games played in the early afternoon typically don't have batting practice scheduled prior to the game, the field is still usually uncovered at least an hour before the game is scheduled to start (if it was even covered in the first place).

And per Mark Bowman of MLB.com, the starting pitchers for both squads have yet to take the field or enter the bullpen for their pregame warmups.

UPDATE: The team has announced an indefinite delay.

UPDATE 2: The game is expected to start at 1:00 PM ET, barring any further weather issues.

The Atlanta area got significant rainfall amounts last night and this morning, with some parts of the metro reporting almost an inch of precipitation overnight. Additionally, radar does show a small cell of storms just south of Truist Park and heading northeast. Even if it avoids the ballpark, there's still a 40% chance of rain this afternoon, beginning around 1 PM.

If today's game is not played, as well, it presents more difficulty for Atlanta. They've arguably been one of the most heavily-impacted teams by rainouts so far this season, with their Opening Day matchup getting pushed back, losing a game in the White Sox series (and seeing another called after the 8th inning), and now could lose two of the scheduled four games in this Mets series.

The make-up date for yesterday's game was set for late September, being made up the only other time that New York is scheduled to come to Truist Park. If this game also can't bel played today, the two teams are looking at either finding a mutual off day to have New York travel to Atlanta or loading that end-of-season series up with yet another game, potentially playing a doubleheader on one of the three scheduled days.
