The Atlanta Braves officially call up Dylan Dodd, option Jared Shuster
The Atlanta Braves, as expected, have officially made the transaction to have Dylan Dodd with the team for tomorrow's start in St. Louis, adding him to the 40-man roster.
Jared Shuster, Saturday's starter, was optioned to AAA as the corresponding move to make room on the 26-man big league roster. To make an available spot for Dodd on the 40-man roster, outfielder Jordan Luplow was designated for assignment. If Luplow clears waivers, he'll undoubtedly be assigned to AAA Gwinnett.
Dodd, 24, is poised to make his big league debut against the Cardinals on Tuesday. A native of Elk Grove, IL, he attended Kankakee Community College in Illinois and was drafted out of Southeast Missouri State, so this is as close to a home game as possible for the midwesterner.

We'll see more roster movement this week, as the Braves still need to make a move for a starting pitcher to replace Max Fried prior to Fried's scheduled Wednesday start. With the hurt hamstring required him to miss multiple starts, he'll go on the IL on Wednesday (it can be backdated up to three days) and Bryce Elder is the Gwinnett starter lined up to get the spot start. Ian Anderson, who pitched Sunday in Gwinnett, would be unavailable for Wednesday, but it's entirely possible the Braves plan to go with a bullpen game for Fried's first missed start instead of calling up someone for a spot start.
