WATCH: Austin Riley cranks a solo shot out of Citi Field to extend Atlanta's lead late

The Braves 3rd baseman hits his 27th homer of the season to put him a triple short of the cycle

Austin Riley's country strong.

The Braves third baseman, who is already 2-2 tonight with a single and a double, got an 0-1 sinker in on the hands at 94 mph. It wasn't a strike, but he already had one on him, so he swung. He didn't catch it on the sweet spot of the bat, and really just got it up in the air using hand speed and brute force.

Good thing the Mississippi product is country strong - that brute strength was enough to get the ball out.

Left fielder Rafael Ortega kept backing up and eventually ran out of room, as Riley's shot went 377 feet at 96.1 mph for a solo home run juuuust over the wall.

It's Riley's 27th homerun and 72nd RBI of the season - an interesting coincidence for #27.

Atlanta's up 7-0 in the top of the 7th inning against the Mets in Citi Field as the Braves look for a good weekend in New York, with three more games in the next two days.
