WATCH: Austin Riley ties it up with an RBI double into the gap

After the Dodgers got a run in the top of the first, the Atlanta 3B evens the score with some two-out thunder

After a frustrating loss last night to the hated Dodgers, things began inauspiciously for the Braves tonight, with Mookie Betts opening the game with a double into the left-field corner, then scoring on a Will Smith single through a drawn-in infield. Spencer Strider struck out the next two batters to get out of the inning, and the Atlanta offense came to the plate looking to extend their league-leading first-inning success.

Opposing them is Dodgers rookie Bobby Miller, LA's top pitching prospect. In his major league debut, he navigated through the dangerous duo of Ronald Acuña Jr. and Matt Olson, retiring them both via ground balls. A hard-hit Sean Murphy grounder found the hole for a single, and then Austin Riley stepped to the plate.

In an 0-2 hole against the fireballing rookie, Riley turned around a 100-mph heater, lacing it into the gap in left-center. Murphy came all the way around from first to tie the game, with the relay throw kicking away from Smith and allowing Riley to take third. Miller, however, would get out of the inning without allowing further damage.

After recording his 500th career hit last night, Riley is fast out of the gate tonight as he continues to try to put a slow start to the season behind him.
