WATCH: Marcell Ozuna hits yet another home run against the Mets
Atlanta Braves designated hitter Marcell Ozuna is having some sort of season.
He started off 2023 ice cold at the plate, batting .085 across March and April, before a big series in Miami propelled the big slugger (who was originally signed as an international free agent by the Marlins and still lives in Miami) to "Marcell May", where he batted .297 with a .626 slugging percentage and nine home runs in the month.
August isn't quite as good for Ozuna, in the power department, but he's making the most of it.
For August, Marcell is batting .315 entering tonight, and he's feasted against the Mets. He hit two home runs against New York last night, and just added his 3rd of the series with a solo shot in the bottom of the 5th inning to extend Atlanta's lead to 3-0.
Believe it or not, Ozuna's just a triple shy of the cycle. He's obviously going to get it, as he's averaged three triples per season in his eleven year-career and having hit none since 2019, he's obviously due.
