WATCH: Marcell Ozuna launches a ball to right that ties the game in the 2nd inning
Atlanta got into an early hole in tonight's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks thanks to a 2nd inning ground rule double that plated a runner for Arizona.
Marcell Ozuna's had enough.
The Braves' designated hitter swatted an 0-1 pitch to the opposite field, getting a fastball just past the outstretched glove of right fielder Jake McCarthy for a game-tying solo home run.
Evan better, Braves legend Ron Gant was in the booth for the call!
Gant's there because tonight's a bobblehead night for both him and a...memorable night in Atlanta. On July 20th, 1993, the Braves press box at Fulton County Stadium caught fire during batting practice. The game went on as scheduled, with the TV and radio teams calling the game from a temporary setup in the stands.
But new trade acquisition 1B Fred McGriff, acquired that day from San Diego for three minor leaguers, was at hot as the fire. He hit a two-run home run in the fifth inning, starting a five-run inning that keyed the comeback and led to a Braves win, 8-5. The Braves went 51-17 the rest of the 1993 season, catching and passing the 103-win San Francisco Giants to win the NL West.
