WATCH: Matt Olson hits another Grapefruit League home run

The Braves 1st baseman put a ball into orbit against Mets starter Mike Vasil

Atlanta Braves 1st baseman Matt Olson is ready for the season to get started.

Spring Training is usually used by position players to work on their timing and polish up a few things before launching into the grind of the regular season.

Matt Olson, however, looks to be in midseason form.

In Atlanta's Grapefruit League matchup against the Mets in North Port, Olson took a 2-1 pitch from starter Mike Vasil and absolutely LAUNCHED it:

The home run is the 7th of the spring training slate for Olson, who has absolutely crushed the ball in his thirteen games of spring training.

Olson, who turns 29 just days before the season starts, was acquired by the Braves amidst Atlanta's struggles to resign incumbent Freddie Freeman, who ended up in Los Angeles with the Dodgers on a 6-year, $162M contract. Atlanta sent multiple prospects to the Oakland Athletics, including catcher Shea Langeliers, outfielder Cristian Pache, and pitchers Ryan Cusick and Joey Estes. Within 24 hours of the trade, Olson signed a 8-year, $168M contract extension that will keep him in Atlanta through 2030, his age 36 season, if the Braves exercise the club option for the final year of the deal.

Last year, Olson played in all 162 games for the Braves, batting .240/.325/.477 w/ 34 HRs and 103 RBIs.
