Today's Game Against the Chicago White Sox Postponed to June

The Atlanta Braves have to be annoyed that this decision wasn't made until after the teams were already warming up at the ballpark

Today's series finale between the Chicago White Sox and the Atlanta Braves was just postponed until this summer, due to rain.

The game, which was scheduled for a first pitch of 2:10 PM ET, has been threatened by cold and rain in the forecast, with Chicago reportedly getting multiple inches of snow overnight and having a forecast for precipitation in some form or another all day today.

And yet, the announcement that the game was postponed didn't come unitl 1:38PM, just over twenty minutes before gametime. Atlanta's scheduled starter, Spencer Strider, was already throwing in the outfield and several Braves were also into their pre-game preparations before the final decision was made.

The game will be made up on Thursday, June 27th at 4:10 PM ET. It's the day after Atlanta finishes a two-city road trip that'll have them taking on the New York Yankees and St. Louis Cardinals; Atlanta will travel from St. Louis after their 7:15 PM game concludes to Chicago for the makeup, leaving immediately after to prepare for their Friday night home matchup against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

I understand the reluctance to move the game; this is the only trip Atlanta's making to face the White Sox this season. Atlanta does travel to Chicago to play the Cubs on Tuesday 21st through 23rd, but there's a series on each bookending that matchup and no way for Atlanta to get across town to make this one up.

But it should have been obvious last night that this game wasn't going to be able to go off as scheduled. Several other games, like the start time of Philadelphia's matchup with Detroit, were proactively adjusted yesterday to accommodate the weather forecast for today.
