BREAKING: Braves option Jared Shuster to AAA Gwinnett

That's the sound of Michael Soroka barreling towards a home start on Friday night

After today's game, the Atlanta Braves made a transaction, sending Jared Shuster to AAA Gwinnett.

Jared Shuster is 4-2 in his nine MLB starts this season, with an ERA of 5.00. He's struck out twenty-five in his forty-five innings of work, walking twenty-two and allowing four homeruns. He was knocked out of his last start early, giving up seven hits and four runs to Cincinnati in just three and two-thirds innings, being taken deep by Matt McLain and Spencer Steer.

No corresponding move was made at this time.

Buuuut, putting together the tea leaves, Michael Soroka returns to the mound at Truist Park on Friday night.

Atlanta's named starters for the rest of the Marlins series, with Charlie Morton getting the ball on Saturday and Spencer Strider on Sunday.

Jared Shuster would have been in line for Friday night's start.

Of your options in AAA, AJ Smith-Shawver, listed at Sunday's starter, cannot come back to the major leagues due to just being optioned, unless he's replacing an injured player.

While there's a possibility that it could be Dylan Dodd coming up to make the start (he last pitched June 22nd), everything's pointing towards Soroka.

Brian Snitker said postgame that they'd officially announce a starter on Friday morning - with an off day tomorrow, you never know what could happen - but the expectation is that it'll be Michael Soroka on the mound in Truist Park, for the first time in 1060 days.

Be excited.
