BREAKING: Kolby Allard goes on 60-day IL with shoulder nerve inflammation

OF Forrest Wall is called up from AAA Gwinnett, hinting that Eddie Rosario may be unavailable for a few more days

The Atlanta Braves announced today that LHP Kolby Allard, who was removed from Sunday's game in the 2nd inning, has been placed on the 60-Day IL with shoulder nerve inflammation.

Allard was not having a great game when he was finally lifted, giving up four runs in four hits with a walk, having faced only eight batters. For the season, Allard is 0-1 with a 6.57 ERA in his four appearances, covering 12.1 innings with 16 hits, 9 runs, and four walks to 13 strikeouts.

Allard's season was delayed due to a strained oblique, suffered in spring training, and he didn't make it back to the mound until June 28th against Minnesota. He started three game, all against the AL Central. With his placement on the 60-Day IL, he's not available for activation until mid-September, so his season is potentially over depending on the severity of his shoulder issues.

The corresponding move was selecting the contract of OF Forrest Wall from AAA Gwinnett. Signed to a minor league deal with an invite to spring training, the outfielder has flashed the defense and speed in Gwinnett this year. He's batting .258/.360/.399 in his 78 games for the Stripers, with 25 extra base hits (including six homers and six triples) and has stolen 45 bases (in 49 attempts).

It's an indication that Eddie Rosario, who was removed from Saturday's game after misplaying two fly balls that led to three runs charged to Spencer Strider and then suffering a tight hamstring, might need either more time to heal or a short injured list stint.

Atlanta's five man bench now consists of catcher Travis d'Arnaud, infielder Charlie Culberson, and outfielders Sam Hilliard, Kevin Pillar, and Forrest Wall. They'll be one man short in the rotation until Allard's next turn comes up, which would have been either Friday or Saturday against the Brewers.
