Transaction: Braves reinstate Jesse Chavez from injured list

The Braves added Jesse Chavez back to their bullpen and sent a trio of relievers out on rehab assignments

The Atlanta Braves announced a flurry of transactions this afternoon, headlined by the return of Jesse Chavez from the injured list.

Chavez, 40, was having a career year out of the bullpen when he took a Miguel Cabrera liner off the shin, sidelining him for over two months. After three rehab appearances in AAA Gwinnett in the past week, with six strikeouts and only two hits allowed (with no runs scoring), "Uncle Jesse" is back to reinforce a Braves bullpen that's been roughed up recently.

The corresponding move for Chavez was to designate Lucas Luetge for assignment. One of the lefties Atlanta's auditioned after losing Dylan Lee to a re-injury of his shoulder, Luetge pitched two scoreless innings last night against Philly to close the loss.

Additionally, Atlanta's sent a trio of relievers, Nick Anderson, Collin McHugh, and Daysbel Hernandez on rehab stints in AAA Gwinnett for the final week of the season. All three would be eligible to make the postseason roster if they're able to prove they're healthy and effective.
