The St. Louis Cardinals finally are starting to get some reinforcements back in the fold.

St. Louis entered the 2024 season with high expectations after a disastrous 2023 campaign. One of the reasons why people expect the club to turn around this season is because of an improved starting rotation.

The Cardinals made a big effort to bolster the rotation and signed three-time All-Star Sonny Gray to be the club's ace. He sadly had to miss the first few weeks of the season due to a hamstring injury, but he returned to the mound and made his team debut on Tuesday night and shined.

Gray was on a pitch limit between 65 and 70 pitches and made the most of them. The veteran righty shined and pitched five innings for the Cardinals and didn't allow a run while striking out five batters. Gray earned his first win of the season as the club took down the Philadelphia Phillies.

St. Louis currently is 6-6 on the season but is in last place in the National League Central standings. If the Cardinals are going to make any noise this season, Gray performance will be a major reason why. He finished in second place in the American League Cy Young Award voting last season and should continue to impress this season.

The three-time All-Star has been one of the top righties in baseball over the last few seasons and he began his St. Louis career in a major way. Things certainly are looking up for St. Louis.
