Cardinals Given Favorable Odds To Win Division After Aggressive Start To Offseason
The St. Louis Cardinals played one of their worst seasons in franchise history last year and were forced to return to the drawing boards this winter.
The most notable moves by the Cardinals this offseason involved the retooling of their decimated rotation -- which was a major problem area for St. Louis in 2023.
With that in mind, DraftKings Sportsbook gives the Cardinals the second-best odds to win the National League Central Division in 2024 at +220 (31.25% chance), meaning a $100 bet would profit $220.
St. Louis sits right behind the Chicago Cubs, who have +160 odds to seal the division. It's also worth noting that the Cardinals are ahead of the reigning NL Central champs, the Milwaukee Brewers, who have +450 odds to clinch.
All of these betting predictions come even though St. Louis posted a disappointing 71-91 record and finished last place in the division in 2023.
Between St. Louis' offense -- which ranked No. 13 in OPS last season -- and the addition of reigning American League Cy Young runner-up Sonny Gray, one could easily make the argument that the Cardinals will be back with a vengeance next year.
The Cardinals could also potentially close the odds gap to clinch the division if they succeed in their attempts to add more weapons to their pitching staff.
Is it worth betting on the Cardinals to bounce back and win the NL Central next season?
