The St. Louis Cardinals got back in the win column in impressive fashion Tuesday night.

St. Louis entered Tuesday's contest losers of two straight contests and appeared poised for a third straight defeat, but battled back late to take down the Colorado Rockies on the road. Although the Cardinals haven't gotten off to the start they had wanted, one player who has shined bright for the club is rookie sensation, Jordan Walker.

The 20-year-old made history when he started Opening Day for the Cardinals at a young age and has continued to leave his mark. Walker -- St. Louis' top prospect and the No. 4 prospect in all of baseball -- hasn't looked like a rookie to open the young season. The 20-year-old already has set the St. Louis team record with hits in each of his 11 career games to open his career.

If Walker is able to collect another hit Wednesday afternoon against the Rockies he will join former Philadelphia Athletics outfielder Eddie Murphy for the longest hit streak to begin a career by a player 20 years or younger at 12 games. Walker already surpassed Boston Red Sox legend Ted Williams at 10 games for second place on the all-time list and now is just one game behind Murphy.

After the Cardinals' impressive win over the Rockies, St. Louis now sits at 4-7 through its first 11 games of the 2023 season. Although it's not where the club expected to be at this point in the season, 11 games is a small sample size and St. Louis should be able to get it together. If the Cardinals are going to compete in 2023, Walker certainly will be a big reason why.

He may be a rookie, but he's already cementing himself as one of the most important players on the roster.
