The St. Louis Cardinals can't seem to catch a break this season.

St. Louis had high hopes heading into the 2023 campaign but things haven't panned out. The Cardinals, who many expected to finish at the top of the National League Central, are in last place with an abysmal 49-65 record. One of the biggest reasons for the Cardinals' struggles this season has without a doubt been injuries. The Cardinals have dealt with a plethora of injuries all season and continue to be bitten by the injury bug. Outfielder Tyler O'Neill is someone who has missed an extended period due to injury but recently returned to the club.

The 28-year-old missed over two months of the season but returned to the lineup on July 20 and has been red-hot ever since. O'Neill, unfortunately, had to miss Tuesday night's contest with a knee injury, but it doesn't sound like it will cause him to miss any time, according to MLB.com's John Denton.

"(Cardinals) outfielder Tyler O'Neill, who was scratched from Tuesday's starting lineup, said he felt his left knee tighten up on him on Monday and it got worse after running on the Tropicana Dome turf in the pregame," Denton said. "He said he expects to be back in the lineup on Wednesday."

In 15 games since returning to the Cardinals lineup, O'Neill has slashed .283/.387/.528 to go along with three home runs, four doubles, and seven RBIs. O'Neill seemingly found his name in trade rumors all season, but the club opted to hold on to him at the 2023 Major League Baseball Trade Deadline. It sounds like he will be remaining with the Cardinals for the foreseeable future. Hopefully, he can get back on the field Wednesday night and continue his hot streak.
