Could Cubs Trade For Boston Red Sox All-Star Closer?

With Spring Training right around the corner, the Chicago Cubs continue to be a team that insiders think could make a major splash before the new season starts.
Cody Bellinger is the obvious connection, but both parties are being stubborn about the price tag.
Matt Chapman continues to be a name linked to the Cubs.
But, there's another All-Star player who has been made available that they could put together a trade package to acquire.
According to Jon Morosi, the Boston Red Sox are taking calls on Kenley Jansen and are looking to move him this offseason.
Chicago's bullpen has gotten a facelift after signing Hector Neris and trading for Yency Almonte, but as last year showed, there can never be enough relief arms in the organization.
The right-hander has spent 14 seasons in the MLB and is most known for his time with the Los Angeles Dodgers where he earned three All-Star selections and led the league in saves during 2017.
Jansen signed a two-year contract with the Red Sox ahead of the 2023 season and posted a 3.63 ERA with 42 saves across 44 2/3 innings pitched.
Even at 35 years old, he was an All-Star with Boston.
Now, at age 36, it looks like he's on the trading block and the Cubs could have some interest.
Again, the bullpen was a major reason why they didn't make the playoffs last season after injuries decimated the unit. Adbert Alzolay stepped up and recorded 22 saves with an ERA of 2.67 after moving into the closer role, but he's still inexperienced.
Adding someone like Jansen could be a huge benefit for the team and the development of Alzolay.
Price will be the determining factor if Chicago ultimately makes a move for the four-time All-Star closer.
