Former Chicago Cubs reliever Eric Stout is starting to draw interest from MLB teams, as well as Japan’s Nippon Professional Baseball according to Jon Heyman of the New York Post.

Stout threw 3.2 innings for the Cubs in 2022 and allowed two earned runs for a 4.91 ERA. He has thrown 24.2 innings in his MLB career and posted an unsightly 7.30 ERA in the process. In fact, his tenure with Chicago was arguably his best.

The Cubs signed Stout to a minor league deal to begin the 2023 MLB season before he found his way to the Seattle Mariners before eventually playing in Taiwan.

It was his uptick in performance in Taiwan that has started to once again draw interest from MLB teams.

Stout should have some options this winter, whether it is with an MLB club, a NPB team or even a minor league deal. The lefty will have the opportunity to prove himself after a few disastrous showings at the Major League level.

It is unlikely that the Cubs take another flyer on him after seeing what he possess over the course of two separate seasons. Still, they could take the risk and sign him to a minor league deal with an invite to MLB Spring Training.
