The Chicago Cubs took the field on Monday night looking to earn their 81st win of the season, and to keep the Philadelphia Phillies from clinching their first National League East title since 2011.

Nine innings later, the Cubs added another tally in their loss column while the Phillies were busy celebrating with champagne showers and a plethora of EDM.

Chicago now looks to bounce back on Tuesday and finally earn that ellusive 81st win.

On the mound for the Cubs Tuesday will be lefty ace Justin Steele (5-5, 3.03 ERA).

In his last start, Steele allowed no earned runs on two hits and three walks while striking out one in 2 2/3 innings.

Steele has dealt with injuries this season, with two separate stints on the injured list, his most recent coming at the beginning of September with his last start marking his return.

The lefty has still had a good season, despite the injuries, and has pitched very well over his last seven starts.

Steele carries a 2.88 ERA across those starts with a 1.22 WHIP and 41 strikeouts across 34 1/3 innings.

Here is how Chicago will line up on Tuesday:

1.) LF Ian Happ
2.) SS Dansby Swanson
3.) DH Seiya Suzuki
4.) RF Cody Bellinger
5.) 3B Isaac Paredes
6.) 1B Michael Busch
7.) 2B Nico Hoerner
8.) CF Pete Crow-Armstrong
9.) C Miguel Amaya

SP Justin Steele

Philadelphia will counter with a lefty of their own in opener Tanner Banks (2-2, 3.78 ERA).

Banks has served as an opener one other time this season, on April 8th while still with the Chicago White Sox.

In that start, Banks allowed one earned run on two hits and no walks while striking out five in 2 1/3 innings and picked up his first loss of the season.

Joining the Phillies via trade, the lefty has pitched much better than he did with the White Sox.

In 19 games with Philadelphia, Banks has pitched to a 3.00 ERA across 21 innings with a 1.24 WHIP and 20 strikeouts.

Banks could be considered the best trade deadline acquisition the Phillies made this season, and he will be with the club after 2024 is over, not reaching free agency until after the 2028 campaign.

Here is how Philadelphia will line up on Tuesday:

1.) DH Kyle Schwarber
2.) SS Trea Turner
3.) 1B Bryce Harper
4.) 3B Alec Bohm
5.) RF Nick Castellanos
6.) LF Austin Hays
7.) 2B Edmundo Sosa
8.) C Garrett Stubbs
9.) CF Johan Rojas

The first pitch for Tuesday's game is scheduled for 6:40 PM EST.

The game will be broadcast on the Marquee Sports Network and NBC Sports Philadelphia.
