The Chicago Cubs will open the 2024 season on the road at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, as they face the world champion Texas Rangers.

The Cubs hope that by the end of this season they will be where the Rangers were last November when they hoisted the World Series trophy after beating the Arizona Diamondbacks in five games.

The Cubs watched the postseason on television, as they fell short of both the National League Central title and a wild card berth in the season’s final weeks.

In the offseason, the Cubs’ biggest acquisition turned out to be a new manager — Craig Counsell. The Cubs lured the Brewers skipper away from Milwaukee with a five-year contract that was the largest ever given to a manager.

On the field, the Cubs signed Japanese free agent Shota Imanaga in January and re-signed free-agent outfielder Cody Bellinger in February. So the National League Comeback Player of the Year will be a Cub for at least one more season.

Here is the preview for the game, with probable pitchers, starting lineups, how to watch and listen, injury updates and more.
