There is no burying the lead here.

The Chicago Cubs have an absolutely loaded pipeline full of prospects who can make an impact at the major league level.

Five of their players are on the Top 100 prospects list in OF Pete Crow-Armstrong (No. 12), RHP Cade Horton (No. 30), OF Owen Caissie (No. 68), OF Kevin Alcántara (No. 76) and RHP Ben Brown (No. 91).

MLB.com put out their updated rankings of every team's pipeline.

They have the Cubs ranked as the fourth best pipeline, which is up from being 12th before the season started.

Three writers for MLB.com put together the list and wrote this about their evaluation.

"The Cubs' system is stronger than it has been since 2015 and much better equipped to produce pitching than it was eight years ago. Horton, Brown and Jordan Wicks are close to taking the mound at Wrigley Field, and Jackson Ferris will need more time but comes with a high ceiling."

Chicago became sellers at the trade deadline the past two seasons. This has allowed them to get back prospects and build their pipeline into the fourth best in the league.

"There's no shortage of position players on the way to Chicago, including the best defender (Crow-Armstrong) and power hitter (Caissie) in the Minors."

The decision to not be sellers this year had a lot to do with the hot play of the Cubs before the deadline. It also could have something to do with how strong their current pipeline is where the front office felt like they didn't need to add more prospects.

It looks like a bright future in Chicago whenever these players hit the big leagues.
