Chicago Cubs Prospect Kevin Alcantara Returns to Lineup After Injury Scare

After being removed from the game following a line drive to the face, Kevin Alcantara was in Single-A Myrtle Beach's lineup the following day, avoiding a bad injury.

The Chicago Cubs could breathe a sigh of relief in regards to top outfield prospect Kevin Alcantara. The 20-year-old was removed from the Myrtle Beach Pelicans game on Thursday after seeming to lose a line drive in the lights, and having it go off of his face.

Fears of a long-term injury were quickly quelled, however, as Alcantara was back in the Pelicans' lineup the next day, even returning to his normal center field spot.

The former New York Yankees prospect acquired in the Anthony Rizzo trade went 0-for-4 with a walk, but the more important development was that he avoided a major injury. Alcantara has blossomed into a top-100 prospect this season, and walking away from a scary situation unscathed is a big win.
