Corbin Carroll's recent hot streak has his OPS back up to .921 and OPS+ to 150. He already has 21 home runs and 30 stolen bases. That is a pace for 33 homers and 47 stolen bases.  There have only been  19 seasons with a player recording 30 homers and 40 stolen bases in MLB history, and only one other time by a rookie. Mike Trout had 30 homers and 49 stolen bases in 2012.  Also of note there have only been two seasons of 30 homers and 50 stolen bases, Eric Davis in 1987 and Barry Bonds in 1990.

Health Updates from Manager Torey Lovullo

Drey Jameson, Spained UCL, 60 day IL since July 8th:  Jameson has opted to take the conservative treatment route and not have surgery at this time.  Today is Day 1 of his plyometric training to get him back to a point where he can begin a throwing program. It's not clear whether Jameson will be able to pitch again this season. With just over two months remaining the timeline appears too tight. But by taking this route he should be able to find out if he can ultimately avoid surgery.  If after two or three months he is not making progress Lovullo said that surgery would still be an option.

Gabriel Moreno, left shoulder inflammation, 10 Day IL since July 23rd:  Moreno not yet swinging a bat. His workout and baseball related activities are limited to lower body.  No timeline was offered for when he might begin swinging a bat, but Lovullo seemed confident that once he started doing so his return should not take too long.

Ryne Nelson was pushed back and will not pitch in this series against the Mariners. Lovullo said they just wanted to give him an extra day of rest. They also wanted to split up Zac Gallen and Merrill Kelly so they are not pitching on back to back days. This allows them to have a better chance of having one of them pitching in each series. Lovullo did not rule out the possibility of having the rookie Nelson skipped in the rotation altogether. September is a grind of a month for most rookies and Nelson has not missed a start all year.

Cole Sulser, Shoulder, 60 day IL since April 7th  is still working his way way back and is expected to throw 1+ innings and 35 pitches for Reno tomorrow.

Mark Melancon, Shoulder, 60 Day IL since March 30th, has resumed his throwing program and is throwing out to 180 feet. Lovullo was noncommittal about his chances to return within this season.
