Kevin Durant Takes in D-backs Game in Corbin Carroll Jersey
Corbin Carroll did not start in last night's shutout win over the Brewers, but came in during the 9th inning as a defensive replacement. He still found himself in the center of a cool moment. A contingent of Phoenix Suns players took in the game, seated right by the Diamondbacks dugout, with forward Kevin Durant seen wearing a Corbin Carroll jersey.
What makes this moment surreal is the shared Seattle connection for both players. Durant was drafted second overall by the Seattle Supersonics in the 2007 NBA Draft. Carroll, a Seattle native, got to watch Durant's rookie season before the team relocated to Oklahoma City.
"Seven-year-old Corbin, going and watching him and for him to be there watching us, that was pretty cool" said Carroll after the game.
It's a great moment for Arizona sports, with one franchise going out and supporting another. This started with Suns guard Cameron Payne, who threw out the ceremonial first pitch before the D-backs game on September 14th. He developed a friendship with Jake McCarthy, over the pair's shared trait of elite speed.
Torey Lovullo talked about it in his post game press conference too. "You have one of the best basketball players of all time putting on your Jersey? That never gets old".
