D-backs Acquire Left-Handed Reliever Anthony Misiewicz

With former All-Star Joe Mantiply opening the season on the injured list, the Diamondbacks became thin on left-handed relievers. To try to shore up more depth, the D-backs acquired left-hander Anthony Misiewicz for cash considerations.

Corbin Martin was transferred to the 60-day injured list (right lat tendon avulsion).
Misiewicz features a fastball that averaged 93 MPH last spring, although he primarily relied on a cutter and curveball. His cutter yielded the best results in 2022, holding hitters to a .167 batting average and .203 wOBA. Misiewicz was designated for assignment by the St. Louis Cardinals on Wednesday after failing to make their Opening Day roster, despite having two options left according to Fangraphs.
Formerly a 18th round selection by the Seattle Mariners in the 2015 MLB Draft, he made his MLB debut in 2020 and has a 4.43 ERA in 119 career appearances. In 2022, he pitched with the Mariners and Kansas City Royals before getting traded to the Cardinals in the off-season.
To make room for Misiewicz on the 40-man roster, the D-backs have transferred right-handed reliever Corbin Martin to the 60-day injured list. He was optioned to Triple-A Reno the next day.
