Lewis will go on the injured list with an illness, and the team has called up Pavin Smith from Triple-A Reno.
In this story:
Before the game, the Diamondbacks have made a roster move. The team has placed outfielder Kyle Lewis on the 10-day injured list and recalled infielder Pavin Smith from Triple-A Reno.
Smith, a first baseman by trade, was in competition for Lewis for the last spot on the bench. Despite hitting .300 in 30 trips to the plate, he was beat out by Lewis with the latter slugging his way onto the roster. In six games with Triple-A Reno, Smith is 5-for-23 with two doubles, three walks, and three RBI. As a left-handed bat, he'll split time between first base, corner outfield, and the designated hitter.
