Numbers Show How Incredible Mookie Betts Has Been For Dodgers to Start Year
The Los Angeles Dodgers are 3-2 through the first five games of the season. While that may not be ideal, it's still very early into the season. It will take a while for this team to reach its full potential; however, we all hope that isn't until October.
While the Dodgers dropped their latest game on Saturday in extra innings, it wasn't the fault of their leadoff hitter, infielder, and superstar Mookie Betts. Betts has been on a tear to start off the 2024 campaign, and even that is an understatement. What Betts has done at the plate is like nothing we've ever seen, so much so that he's tied with one other player to record 9+ hits, 9+ RBIs, 6+ walks, 4+ home runs and a .600+ BA.
The RBI became an official state beginning in 1920.
Betts has been otherwordly to start this season. In 18 ABs, the 31-year-old has collected 11 hits, slashed .611/.720/.1.389 with an OPS of 2.109. He's also already had four home runs, ten RBIs, scored nine runs, and has only struck out two times. We're not sure how long this will last, but boy, it is fun watching him do his thing at the plate.
The seven-time All-Star had a forgettable October where he didn't collect a hit in the postseason. No one expected Betts to perform as he did, and he's determined to ensure that doesn't happen again.
The Boys in Blue will go as far as he takes them; however, he can't do it on his own. If he can even perform at half of this level for the rest of the season, along with his counterparts picking up their pace, L.A. will be the World Series contenders we expect them to be.
