Clayton Kershaw Reacts to Dodgers' Billion-Dollar Offseason
As Clayton Kershaw was weighing his decision to retire or have surgery, he was watching the Dodgers spending over $1 billion.
There was a part of him that wanted to be a part of it, even if it meant missing, at least, the first half of the season.
This is what he had to say about the additions of Shohei Ohtani, Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Tyler Glasnow.
“This offseason has been pretty amazing to watch, honestly. There’s definitely a part of me that wanted to be a part of that, part of this team. Winning an offseason doesn’t mean anything, but it’s a pretty good clubhouse of guys. The talent is probably the best I’ve ever been a part of. I’m hopeful that I can be a part of it, too.”

Kershaw's 2024 season is going to look different than any other season. When he addressed the media at Camelback Ranch on Thursday, he confirmed that he won't be back at camp until March.
He also said he won't be traveling with the team on road trips until he is healthy. Instead, he will stay home in Texas. However, he will be in Los Angeles for homestands.
While he continues to rehab and recover, Kershaw will become an observer of what might be the most-anticipated season in Dodgers history.
“I expect to be good. I’ve said it before, I don’t want to be average. I don’t want to just pitch to pitch. I wanna be good. I wanna contribute and be part of this. So yeah, my expectations are no concessions. Just be good.”

One thing is for certain throughout this entire process for Kershaw. He expects to be good when he comes back.
