This would be a fun twist.

Former Dodgers third baseman Justin Turner is hitting free agency for the second straight offseason after declining his option with the Boston Red Sox. There has been some talk about a reunion with Turner in LA, but it seems unlikely at this point.

But Turner will likely want to go somewhere that he feels he can win since he only has so many years left in the league. Turner showed last year that he still had some pop in his bat, hitting .276 with 23 home runs and 96 runs batted in.

MLB analyst Will Fleitch believes that Turner could end up right back where it all started for him, with the New York Mets.

“There’s a lot of options for him. I personally, emotionally speaking, I’d love to see him back with the Mets,” Fleitch said. “The idea of Justin Turner going back to the Mets … is kind of a fun idea.”

Turner going back to New York would be a very interesting twist to free agency and would be ironic all around. The fans would embrace him, and he could return to the place that gave him his first chance.

Turner has been a great locker room guy for a while now, and the Mets could use someone like him. He would be awesome for their clubhouse and would bring a veteran presence to the team that they may have been lacking.

He also brings a winning culture over from his time with the Dodgers and could be very valuable to what New York is trying to do. It makes sense, and honestly, I'd love to see Turner back with the Mets next season.
