Dave Roberts Addresses Dodgers' Sky-High Expectations for 2024 Season
After their strong offseason, the Dodgers are seen as one of the best teams in all of baseball. Many believe that they are the best, but being the best comes with certain expectations, as well.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts joined The PosCast with Joe Posnanski & Michael Schur and addressed the expectations for the Dodgers this upcoming season. He got ahead of the championship or bust narrative that has surrounded Los Angeles all winter long.
“I’m going to be out there in about a week (in spring training with) pitchers and catchers. You’ve got to come in fresh. I think I’ve done a good job of getting our guys to buy into the micro of the moment, because certainly this year you get (Shohei) Ohtani, we trade for (Tyler) Glasnow, we get (Yoshinobu) Yamamoto — we gave him over $300 million — it’s going to be ‘World Series or bust.’ I’m going to hear it all spring. I’ve already heard it. That hasn’t changed for me."

Roberts has been the manager of the Dodgers since 2016, so he understands the pressure that is on this organization to win.
He knows that just because this team has star power doesn't mean anything is given. The players will have to execute on the field, and it all starts with how they prepare in the spring.
“You’re not going to win the World Series in February, April, March. So you have to get the micro. I want to get guys to come in fresh, come in motivated, play the game the right way.”

This team has all the tools and pieces to win the World Series. It will be the job of the coaching staff to place the players into spots to succeed, and it will be arguably the toughest challenge yet for Roberts.
