Did Trea Turner Shade the Dodgers While Talking About the Phillies?
It's no secret that one of the main reasons the Dodgers postseason run ended early was due to the team's offense.
In their three-game sweep against the Diamondbacks, the Dodgers were only able to string together 17 hits and six runs.
As a team they hit .177 including an abysmal performance with runners on base.
Now, a former Dodger who is having success elsewhere may have dropped some shade towards his former team when talking about his postseason run.
Trea Turner spent the last two seasons with the Dodgers. In the two regular seasons spent with the Dodgers, Turner hit .307 with 30 home runs and 128 RBIs and was a bright spot during last year's playoffs when the rest of the team struggled to hit.
He hit .333 in the Dodgers four-game divisional series loss to the Padres. Just like this year, however, the Dodgers bats couldn't get anything going against a division rival.
Now Turner is with the Phillies who are on the brink of clinching another berth to the World Series for the second straight season.
Turner is hitting nearly .500 this postseason with three home runs and four RBIs. When talking about how the hitters meetings go before games, Turner compared the Phillies strategy to other teams he's been on before.
"A lot less information — in a good way," Turner said. "We're keeping it pretty simple."
Although he doesn't name the Dodgers, people could infer that he is talking about his former team due to the struggles that were present during Turner's playoff runs in Los Angeles.
Clearly, whatever they're doing in Philly is working, as they're on the verge of a second straight World Series appearance. As for LA, they're back home trying to figure out what's gone wrong the last few seasons.
