After losing 3 out of 4 games to the Atlanta Braves this weekend, the Los Angeles Dodgers don’t have much to play for before the postseason begins.

Following this series loss, Bleacher Report's Joel Reuter dropped them below Atlanta in the power rankings, and rightfully so.

As Reuter points out, the Dodgers are 6.5 games out of the best position in the National League. They have a 14.5-game lead in the National League West division. And they have an 8.5-game lead over the third-best record in the National League.

Since the Dodgers don’t have much to play for before the postseason begins, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts must motivate his team to continue to play good baseball. They can't get complacent and make the similar mistakes from last year.

Fortunately, the 2023 Dodgers don’t know the definition of giving up. When their pitching was struggling, the offense took over and found a way to score enough to win frequently. When the offense doesn’t score enough, the pitching finds a way to limit the opposition.

At this point, Roberts must find something for the Dodgers to accomplish. It may be winning 100 games. It may be hitting certain personal goals. But whatever it is, this team must stay motivated. They understand they need to go into the playoffs hot.
