Dodgers Finally Bring Back Fan Favorite on Massive 3-Year Deal
The Los Angeles Dodgers and Teoscar Hernández are in agreement on a three-year, $66 million contract. The deal includes a fourth-year option for $15 million, over $23 million in deferred money, and a $23 million signing bonus.
A reunion between the Dodgers and Hernández seemed inevitable after his outstanding performance in 2024. The outfielder hit a career-high home runs, became the first Dodger to win the Home Run Derby, and became a World Series champion.
The Dodgers and Hernández had reached a point of contention just over a week ago. Contract negotiations between the two parties had stalled over money. Nonetheless, Hernández is locked in for the next few seasons and the Dodgers get their right-handed hitter back in the lineup.
After weeks of waiting, Dodgers fans finally got the news they'd been waiting for just after Christmas. In 2024, Hernández slashed .272/.339/.501 with 33 home runs, 99 RBIs, and an OPS of .840. Additionally, Hernández is an important figure in the clubhouse who helped bring a refreshing energy to the team.
On Friday, Hernández sent fans into a frenzy after he posted to his Instagram story a black background with the caption: "I'm back." It was Hernández himself who broke the news about his return to Los Angeles, but the details of the contract were reported minutes after his cryptic post on Instagram.
As the Dodgers prepare to run it back next season, Hernández will be there to help the team on the road back to October.
