We should all strive to have the confidence that he exudes.

The Dodgers and Padres are getting set for the rubber match of the first three-games series between the teams this season.

Before this weekend, the last time the teams played was last October, when the Padres upset the 111-win Dodgers in the NLDS.

This series has felt like more than just a regular season series in May, whether it be because of the lack of class shown by the Padres video board team or just the fact that these teams’ fan bases always go at it. Either way, it’s been an interesting weekend to say the least.

Ahead of the series, Dodger legend and current broadcaster Eric Karros caught up with AM570 radio to talk about the rivalry between the two teams. When asked who he was winning the National League West this season, he had a ton of confidence in the Dodgers continuing their run of dominance over San Diego and the rest of the division.

“How can you pick the Padres,” Karros said. “the Dodgers won the division by 22 games last year. Not five, not 10, they won the division by 22 games. They did not lose a season series to San Diego … the Padres got them on one week. That doesn’t make them a better team. That doesn’t make them, oh they’re going to win the division. They got them one week. One week. … I take the Dodgers 99 out of 100 times to win the division.”

You have to love the confidence from Karros, although I don’t think it’s exactly fair to compare these teams to last year’s squads. It’s no secret that the Dodgers got worse in the offseason, while the Padres continued to reload.

Still, though, the Dodgers know how to win — and the Padres have proven they have no idea what to do when they win.

While I disagree with Karros that I’d take the Dodgers to win the NL West 99 times out of 100, I do think the Dodgers are ultimately going to be the better team this season. But we have a long season to go before we have to start thinking about that — maybe someone should tell that to the Padres’ video board team.
