Dodgers Highlights: Max Muncy Walks it Off as LA Mounts Comeback Behind Great Pitching
On a gorgeous Tuesday night at Dodger Stadium, the Los Angeles Dodgers lengthened their winning streak to five as Max Muncy came through in the ninth. The Dodgers inched out the Detroit Tigers 3-to-2, thanks to a walk-off RBI single from Muncy that drove in Mookie Betts.

Caleb Ferguson opened Tuesday’s game and struck out the side but allowed a solo home run.
Freddie Freeman doubled in the first, while Will Smith’s single advanced Freeman to third, and J.D. Martinez walked to load the bases. The Dodgers couldn’t capitalize on the scoring opportunity.
Ryan Pepiot began the second and pitched a perfect inning. In the third, Pepiot allowed a solo shot but didn’t give up anything else. Pepiot used 10 pitches to retire the Tigers in the fourth. He pitched a 1-2-3 fifth. He issued a walk in the sixth but didn’t allow a run. Pepiot gave up a leadoff single to Miguel Cabrera in the seventh, but he pitched through traffic to finish the inning. On 97 pitches, Pepiot allowed only one run in six innings while striking out four.
Freeman had a single in the third, but Smith hit into a force play to erase Freeman. The Dodgers again couldn’t take advantage of the scoring opportunity. Martinez opened the fourth with a solo home run, bringing home the Dodgers first run of the game, making it 2-1.
Mookie Betts singled with an out in the fifth but was stranded at first.
James Outman opened the seventh with an infield single but was erased by a force play hit into by Miguel Rojas. Betts singled moving Rojas to second. Freeman hit into a double play to end the threat.
Brusdar Graterol with his mother looking on pitched a perfect eighth.
With two outs in the eighth, Martinez singled. Running for Martinez, Chris Taylor stole second and scored on David Peralta’s double. Jason Heyward walked. Outman couldn’t deliver.
Alex Vesia pitched a perfect ninth.
Betts singled with an out in the ninth, and a pitch hit Smith. Muncy delivered the game-winning RBI single.
