The Dodgers ran their win streak to two in a row with an 8-5 victory over the Nationals in Washington. It was a balanced attack from an offense that was missing Mookie Betts in the lead-off spot while he deals with a foot injury.

Rookie Emmet Sheehan started the game and struggled over 4.1 innings. Beyond Sheehan, the bullpen was exceptional for LA, tossing 4.2 shutout innings.

The Dodgers got on the board first with a 2-run home run in the first as JD Martinez welcomed himself back to the lineup. Former Dodger Keibert Ruiz did JD one better with a 3-run homer in the bottom of the first, setting the stage for the slugfest in DC.

Max Muncy tied the game in the 4th with a mammoth shot that reached the third deck in right field at Nationals Park. Kiké Hernandez gave the Dodgers the lead two batters later with a low laser that had just enough launch angle to reach the seats in left field.

The Nats took the lead back on another home run (2 run) off Emmet Sheehan who couldn't get out of the 5th inning.

But the Dodgers battled back to put up a 4 spot in the top of the 6th as 6 batters reached base in the inning. Chris Taylor dealt the big blow with a 2 run double following a Miguel Rojas sacrifice bunt.

A rain delay made for a 90-plus minute top of the 7th for LA. Once the game resumed, both teams stayed relatively quiet at the plate.

Freddie Freeman was the hitting star in this one, dropping 3 hits and establishing a new Dodger franchise record with his 53rd double of the season.
