Dodgers Injury News: LA Close To Getting Huge Bullpen Weapon Back

One more step for the veteran right-hander they call Huddy.

If things keep trending in the right direction, July could be one of the healthiest months yet for the Dodgers this season. The club is expected to get some big names back in the coming days and weeks including third baseman Max Muncy and ace starter Julio Urias. One huge bullpen weapon is also one step away from finally making his 2023 debut.

Injured reliever Daniel Hudson is on the mend. The veteran right-hander has been on a minor league rehab assignment in recent weeks and, after successfully pitching on back to back days, now has one small hurdle to clear before getting activated.

Dave Roberts talked about Hudson on Friday.

"Huddy's doing great. Throwing the baseball well. As I understand it, he is supposed to head to Arizona and throw an inning on Tuesday. Once he does that, if all goes well, then the activation next weekend is a viable possibility."

When Hudson was healthy, he was one of Roberts' most trusted relievers out of the bullpen. In 25 games, he posted a 2.22 ERA, striking out 30 batters in 24.1 innings. He blew out his knee last June while attempting to make a play on a soft hit in front of the plate in Atlanta.

While the bullpen has been better over the last few games, it has been painfully apparent all season long that help is needed. The hope is Hudson can be that solidifying force.

Latest on Max Muncy

As expected, Max Muncy remains out on Saturday, spending another nursing a left hamstring injury from the injured list. The latest reports out of Dodger Stadium say that the third baseman feels something while running at full speed around the bases.

The Dodgers will continue to exercise caution in the hopes of avoiding anything more long term.
