Dodgers Insider Thinks LA Could Trade For Frontline Starter From Rebuilding Team This Offseason

A great arm for their rotation.

Several Dodgers fans wanted Andrew Friedman to address their lackluster rotation in August and an early October showed exactly why that was the case. 

LA failed to acquire another starter other than Lance Lynn from the White Sox and such a move ended their season prematurely in the NLDS. 

Unwilling to make the same mistakes, Friedman could try to get one of Lynn's old teammates as some immediate help in 2024. 

“[Dylan] Cease is a guy who comes to mind on a team that’s in an obvious need of a rebuild. He’s a front of the line starter. There aren’t a lot of guys like that out there who check all those boxes. But I think we can’t rule that route out sitting here today.”

Cease didn't have his best season in 2023 but to be fair to him, nobody on the south side of Chicago other than Luis Robert did through a miserable season. 

The Sox's ace followed up a Cy-Young caliber 2022 with a 4.58 ERA across 33 starts this season. 

One plus amidst his fifth season on the roster was his high strikeout totals on top of another healthy year for the righty. 

LA desperately needs another ace-level arm after their 2023 season went up in smoke thanks to poor starting pitching. 

Lynn, Clayton Kershaw and Bobby Miller all failed to reach even three innings in each of their respective outings as the Diamondbacks shelled them all. 

Dodger fans are growing impatient with Friedman's regime after empty promises haven't given them a full season ring in this great window. 

Despite the countless resources of funds, prospects and talent at the major league level the team hasn't gotten the job done in the past decade. 

Cease could be one step towards those changes but like any deal, it would all depend on the price.
