Dodgers Insider Wants to See LA Trade for Young, Hard-Throwing Left-Handed Pitcher
As free agent Yoshinobu Yamamoto decides on his future, there are some other interesting options that the Dodgers could look into to help their starting rotation issues. One name that has been circling the baseball world of late is left-hander Jesus Luzardo from the Miami Marlins.
Miami doesn't seem to be actively looking to trade him, but he is drawing interest from those around the league. He would be a great addition to the Dodgers' rotation, but L.A. is waiting on Yamamoto before pivoting elsewhere.
Dodgers Insider Doug McKain of dodgersnation.com believes that LA should look into trading for Luzardo if they miss out on Yamamoto.
“I’d absolutely like to see the Dodgers pursue him as a possible trade piece if you strike out on Yamamoto.”

Luzardo would be an excellent consolation prize for the Dodgers if Yamamoto signs elsewhere. He has electric stuff on the mound and would give them a left-handed starter in their rotation, something they're currently lacking.
Last season for the Marlins, Luzardo made 32 starts, posting an ERA of 3.58. He also put up a WHIP of 1.22 and struck out 208 batters over 178.2 innings of work.
One of the biggest perks of grabbing Luzardo is that he is under team control for multiple years. The Dodgers love their flexibility when it comes to control, so it could make sense for them to entertain a trade.
A trade for Luzardo won't be easy, though, as McKain points out.
“You’re gonna have to include multiple top prospects because he’s under three years of team control, he’s one of the best left-handed pitchers in the league and he has that explosive pitch profile that plays up in the postseason.”

It would take a hefty prospect package to land Luzardo, but the Dodgers have the prospect capital to make a deal happen, as they have one of the better farm systems in the league.
