Another one bites the dust...

On the brink of the deadline, the Dodgers failed to acquire yet another starting pitcher from the market in efforts to bolster their rotation

According the Ken Rosenthal, the Baltimore Orioles acquired Jack Flaherty from the St. Louis Cardinals after the poor start to the season from the latter.

Flaherty's time in St. Louis comes to a close after portions of seven seasons with the Cardinals and the Dodgers missed out on another starter to help their rotation.

The Burbank native pitched to a 4.43 ERA and a 7-6 record with the Redbirds so far this year, but the Orioles hope he can rekindle his 2019 form where the starter threw for a 2.75 ERA across 33 starts.

Yet another pitcher slips through the cracks for the Boys in Blue as Tigers starter Eduardo Rodriguez refused to waive his no trade clause to the Dodgers in another potential deal that ultimately collapsed.

As it stands the Dodgers current trade deadline haul includes Kiké Hernandez from the Red Sox, Amed Rosario from the Guardians and pitchers Lance Lynn and Joe Kelly from the Chicago White Sox.

It's an admittedly underwhelming haul for GM Andrew Freidman and company at Chavez Ravine as many fans anticipated a trade for another White Sox pitcher in Dylan Cease or even another Cardinal bat in Nolan Arenado to play third base.

It looks as though this roster will be the squad for the final two months of the regular season. With divisional rivals in the San Diego Padres, Arizona Diamondbacks and San Francisco Giants all making win-now moves, the Dodgers know that the gauntlet is just beginning.
