Dodgers: MLB Source Feels Andrew Friedman Won't Panic in Wake of Gavin Lux Injury

With the loss of Lux, the Dodgers are left to fill that void with in house options.

When news broke this week that Gavin Lux would be ruled out of the season with an ACL injury, the organization was certainly hit with the unexpected. The team was anticipating having Lux take on the starting shortstop position this year, so an injury was the last thing LA would have wanted to occur.

Although the team is met with this new obstacle, one MLB source believes that Andrew Friedman will know how to handle the situation. Sports journalist Buster Olney tweeted out the statement on Friday:

With the loss of Lux, the Dodgers have to fill that void in the shortstop position. The team is left with internal options or could turn to the trade market in the middle of the season, as mentioned.

Manager Dave Roberts has made it clear that the team will turn to an internal solution first with players like Chris Taylor and Miguel Rojas. Taylor has experience at shortstop and has even been doing a throwing program already.

Rojas is also a veteran player who is working towards elevating his offensive game to step to the best of his abilities in Lux’s absence.

Although Rojas and Taylor are solid options, these two guys will not provide the same shortstop expertise that Lux was expected to bring to the team. Plus, having those two players switch around to the starting shortstop role may alter the flow, which may cause to LA try and sign a new shortstop altogether.

Regardless of what LA chooses to do, the team has it under control and will work to overcome this hurdle.
