Both Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman are having fantastic seasons putting them in the conversations for the National League MVP. The Dodgers wouldn’t be in first place in the National League Western Division without the contributions from Betts and Freeman.

Both Betts and Freeman won the prestigious award before but not with the Dodgers.

In 2018 when the Boston Red Sox won their last world championship, Betts won the American League MVP, but he is having a better season than in 2018. He plays second base, shortstop, and right field. He has 27 home runs and has already set a new franchise record for the most lead-off home runs with ten and counting this season.

If Betts continues, he will get many votes for the National League MVP.

The consistent Freeman won the National League MVP in the abbreviated 2020 season when his Atlanta Braves lost to the Dodgers in the NLCS. In 2023, Freeman leads the National League in doubles with 32. This season he has collected his 2000th Major League hit and 300th home run. Despite June when Freeman slumped, his batting average of .314 is the third highest in the league. He has 17 home runs and 63 RBI.

Nobody can measure the importance of Betts and Freeman in the Dodger clubhouse filled with rookies. They are hard workers and take their jobs seriously, setting a great example for the younger players. On the Dodgers, both players are MVPs, and they will continue their dominance of the National League.
