After two months of the season, everyone thought Ronald Acuña Jr. of the Atlanta Braves would win the National League MVP, but Freddie Freeman and Mookie Betts are coming for the award.

Freeman with the Braves won the 2020 National League MVP. In 2018, Betts with the Boston Red Sox won the American League MVP. If Acuña wins the MVP, it would be his first.

Freeman is having an unbelievable season. He already has over 40 doubles. Unlike most major leaguers, Freeman doesn’t slump. He wants to play every game and every inning.

Every day, Freeman has a set routine to get ready for a game. When he goes to the plate, he has a plan to succeed. He consistently goes to left field to collect hits. He has power, but he doesn’t care about his power statistics. He wants to use every way he can to help the Dodgers win.

As of Wednesday, Freeman has a .343 batting average, 23 home runs, 81 RBI, and a 1.016 OPS. While Freeman isn’t known for his speed, he leads the Dodgers in stolen bases.

Betts has been doing everything the Dodgers have asked of him as well. He has played right field, shortstop, and second base. His defense everywhere is Gold Glove-caliber. On offense, Betts has a .286 batting average with 31 home runs, 77 RBI, and a .969 OPS.

Of course, Acuña is having a phenomenal season, but both Freeman and Betts are getting national attention. In MLB.com's latest poll, Freeman and Betts were second and third, respectively, in NL MVP voting.

For the last six weeks of the season, fans should keep their eyes on the National League MVP race.
