Dodgers News: Brusdar Graterol Set up Team Meeting to Get LA Bullpen Back on Track

Something needed to be done!
In this story:

The Dodgers issues this season in their bullpen have been nothing short of frustrating. After having one of the best pens in the game last season, the LA bullpen has fallen off a cliff compared to their normal standards. Over the past weekend, the Dodgers relief arms came together to open up and get things back on track. It seemed to work, at least for now, since the Dodgers bullpen helped the team shut out the Angels twice in a row earlier this week.

“Guys spoke up and said, ‘Hey, we’re not performing the way we’ve performed in the past, so we need to get back to doing what we know we can do,’” Yency Almonte said. “Brusdar set it up. He spoke in Spanish, and I translated for him. [Bullpen coach Josh Bard] spoke up, Phillips, Ferguson and myself stepped up to say how we felt.”

Maybe the conversations that were had were just the thing that the Dodgers needed. The bullpen issues caused the team to lose multiple games that they should have won. Maybe coming together as a unit will help turn things around for this team that has such high expectations.

Left-hander Caleb Ferguson chimed in as well and gave his thoughts on the situation. Ferguson has seen his own struggles this season so he is in this with everyone.

“It was just opening the floor and let’s talk about how everybody’s feeling,” the left-hander said. “When you’re trying to hold all that in, over the course of 162 games, things can go haywire sometimes."

Whatever it was, the Dodgers will hope that the success continues. This team is too talented to be losing the way they have. The bullpen has too many guys who know they can perform better.

If things continue to work then Brusdar Graterol will need to be given credit for setting up the heart to heart. As one of the more veteran Dodger players in the bullpen, Graterol setting the tone is a great thing.

If the bullpen issues get resolved even a little bit, the Dodgers will be in good shape. LA will see how things shake out over the next few weeks and then decide how to proceed with the trade deadline coming up.
