As announced on early Monday, the Dodgers made the decision to place ace, Clayton Kershaw, on the Injured List.

The news leaves fans concerned, but no one is more disappointed than Kershaw himself as he will now miss what could've been his 10th appearance in the MLB All-Star game.

"The other part that's disappointing is making the All Star team (and not being able to pitch). I know Charley wanted to see me pitch -- he's getting into it now -- I wanted to pitch in that. So yeah, that's disappointing too. We're still going to go and have a good time"

The news broke Monday afternoon when the Dodgers made a few roster moves that would support Kershaw's enlistment to the injury tab, which included recalling right-handers, Michael Grove and Gavin Stone, from the farm.

Kershaw, who was set to start Monday night against the Pirates, was then scratched and replaced by Grove.

The left-hander is set to be out for at least 15 days with a bummed shoulder that he's been dealing with since June 30th.

Kershaw's name on the list makes him the final pitcher on the Dodgers rotation who has at least spent some time on the IL, joining teammates Ryan Pepiot and Walker Buehler, who have been on the list all year long.

As disappointing as it was for Kershaw to hit the IL, it was probably for the best. Sure, it's upsetting to miss the chance to play in the midsummer classic, but what a great time to get some rest before the Dodgers would have to turn things around in the NL West.

After 14 starts, 2.55 ERA and a WHIP of 1.05 with 105 total strikeouts, shoulder soreness is a pretty nice way to be put on the Injured List, especially with the timing of the All-Star break.

I'm sorry Kersh, but maybe a breather ain't a bad thing. Time to sit back and relax and enjoy the All-Star festivities with the family, which he has announced that he will do.
