Dodgers News: Clayton Kershaw Officially Activated, Reliever Optioned Again
On Thursday, the Dodgers officially announced the return of ace Clayton Kershaw who was activated off the injured list after spending the last 44 days sidelined with left shoulder inflammation.
In a corresponding move, the club sent lefty reliever Victor Gonzalez back to Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Kershaw resumes what has been a great season so far. In 16 starts before hitting the IL, he was among the NL leaders in wins and ERA and looked to be on his way toward the top of the pack in terms of Cy Young award contention. Despite missing more than a month of action, he's still listed among the best in baseball.
The Dodgers had always planned on giving the 35-year-old veteran a bit of a rest during the season and this proved to be just that.
In terms of Gonzalez, he recently rejoined the active roster after spending the better part of the last month back down at AAA. He didn't appear in a game for the team during his most recent stint.
