Dodgers News: Dave Roberts Addresses Rapidly Approaching Magic Number to Clinch Division
Taking the opener in their series against the Washington Nationals, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts was clued in on the magic number to clinch the NL West for the team once again in 2023.
All but securing another division title for the most consistent winners in all of baseball, LA's skipper remained surprised and focused on bigger titles in October.
“It seems like that. That’s always a good thing,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said of the nearly-annual countdown in September. “It comes with the expectation to win the division. That’s our first goal at the onset of spring training. I didn’t realize where the magic number was at. But I think I can speak for everyone in here, we just want to play good baseball. If we do that, the magic number will be zero, we will clinch and we’ll pop champagne.”

It's been another dominant season for LA and the team appears to be headed for another first round bye this season.
Doubted by many analysts and media personalities that they would fall off in favor of the Padres, the Dodgers have continued to do what they've always done for the past decade and that's to win a lot and win often.
Leaving their divisional competition in the dust, even with a September slide due to some rotational issues, the Dodgers have still maintained a double digit lead in the NL West over the second place Giants.
Still trailing the Braves for the overall best record in baseball, LA could still win 100 games for the second straight year and fourth year out of five seasons.
The model of consistency not just in baseball, but all of sports, LA continues to defy expectations and redefine what it means to have a winning culture in their organization.
