The 2023 Dodgers are pretty much the poster child of inconsistency. Through 16 games, they have a solid eight wins and eight losses. They've been hovering around their .500 record all year long, and have some really good games, and other really bad ones.

The Dodgers have scored eight or more runs in six of their games, and two or fewer runs in six others. You never know which Dodgers offense is going to show up, and over the course of a long season, that's obviously a problem — and Dodgers manager Dave Roberts understands that (per Juan Toribio of MLB.com)

"There’s times where we look really good and put up big numbers and crooked numbers," Roberts said. "And there are other times when there’s a lot of quick ABs, a lot of weak contact. So when you do that, you’re not going to score many runs."

Fortunately, the Dodgers do have those big outbursts. However, they need to find a way to be consistent, and have good at-bats in all their games.

Through 16 games, the Dodgers are hitting just .231 with runners in scoring position. That's tied with the San Diego Padres for 25th-worst in the entire MLB.

The Dodgers have also struck out 155 times, one behind the Giants who have the most in the entire MLB at 156. That's not good.

On the flip side, however, the Dodgers have scored 85 runs, good for fifth-best in the league entering Monday. Also, they have a team OPS of .794, also good for fifth-best in the MLB.

The Dodgers offense has had its moments, but overall, it's not showing the consistency that a good team needs. And if the Dodgers want to start breaking away from the .500 mark they've hovered around all year, they're going to need to be much more consistent on the offensive side of the ball.
